Remote Controls Batteries and Electrical Systems
Understand remote range, battery configuration, power supply and stopping functions. Compare the complete installed system and its documented operation, not an isolated component label.
Does travel-motor wattage tell me its slope capability?
Motor power is one factor. Torque at the tracks depends on gearing, controller limits, available electrical power, cooling and traction. Machine mass and slope conditions affect the load. Compare the complete documented travel system and operating limits instead of deriving a slope angle from the motor's wattage.
What is the difference between rated and peak motor power?
Rated power describes operation under a stated basis; peak power describes a higher output for specified conditions or duration. They should not be compared as identical continuous capability. Useful figures identify voltage, operating conditions and duty. Heat management and controller limits also affect the power available during prolonged work.
Are a brushless motor and a servo system the same thing?
Brushless describes a motor's construction and commutation approach. Servo describes a controlled motion system, normally involving feedback and a control objective. A brushless motor is not automatically a servo system. Compare the actual motor, controller and feedback arrangement rather than treating the two names as interchangeable specifications.
Why might a tracked mower drift when travelling straight?
Ground conditions, track tension, unequal drive resistance, calibration or a component fault can affect straight travel. Compare behaviour on suitable level ground using the manual's checks. Stop if the machine becomes difficult to control. Avoid compensating permanently with the controller before identifying whether a mechanical or electrical issue is developing.
Does a higher controller-current rating improve performance?
The controller needs to match the motor, battery or generator, wiring and cooling. Higher available current can support torque only within the rest of the system's limits. A large rating alone does not establish sustained performance or reliability. Use the approved controller specification when servicing or comparing the complete drive.
Why does wiring protection matter on a mower?
Wiring faces vibration, heat, sharp edges, moving parts and plant debris. Correct routing, fastening and suitable protection help reduce rubbing, loose connections and avoidable downtime. Connectors and service access matter as well. A tidy exterior is useful, but the complete routing and protection arrangement determines how wiring is supported in service.
Can I wash electrical components with a pressure washer?
Use the model's approved cleaning method. Rain resistance, splash protection, immersion and high-pressure washing are different exposures. Avoid directing high-pressure water at connectors, controllers, bearings and the engine. Allow the machine to cool and follow its shutdown procedure before cleaning.
Will the mower remain stationary on a slope if power is lost?
Holding behaviour depends on the travel drive, braking arrangement and control state. It must be understood for the exact machine; do not infer it from electric drive or tracks alone. Follow the model's parking and shutdown procedure, and do not leave a machine on a slope unless its instructions permit the arrangement.
What do low-voltage, overcurrent and temperature protections do?
These protections respond to different conditions and depend on the installed controller and sensors. A protection event can reduce or stop a function to limit damage, but it also signals a condition that needs attention. Use the model's warning information to identify the cause before restarting or continuing heavy work.
Does a failed controller require returning the whole mower?
The repair route depends on diagnosis, the failed component and the service terms. Some faults can be addressed through guided checks and replacement parts; others need workshop work. Identify the controller and symptoms before ordering a replacement. GreenShine's support channel can coordinate the case and confirm the appropriate next step.
Why does an engine-powered mower also have a battery?
Depending on the model, the battery supports starting, controls and electrical travel or other functions. The engine and charging system perform a different role from the battery's stored energy. Check the machine's power layout to understand which functions remain available with the engine stopped and which require the engine to be running.
What is the difference between lead-acid and lithium batteries?
The battery types differ in charging requirements, usable energy, weight, temperature behaviour and transport arrangements. Capacity in amp-hours alone is not a complete comparison when voltage or usable depth of discharge differs. Use the battery type approved for the mower and its matched charging system.
What do two 12 V 20 Ah batteries in series provide?
Two matching 12 V 20 Ah batteries connected in series provide a nominal 24 V 20 Ah system. Voltage adds; amp-hour capacity remains 20 Ah. Nominal stored energy is about 480 Wh before losses and operating limits. GreenShine pages using this configuration describe two batteries in series, rather than a 24 V 40 Ah pack.
How long can the mower travel with the engine stopped?
That depends on usable battery energy, travel load and the machine's permitted operating mode. Slopes and soft ground can increase demand. A battery capacity figure does not establish an engine-off runtime. Follow the model's instructions and avoid using an unverified engine-off mode as a recovery or slope-parking method.
Does charging while mowing guarantee constant battery level?
The electrical balance depends on generator output, travel demand, auxiliary loads and charging conditions. Sustained demand can exceed the available charging power in some situations. Monitor the machine as instructed and investigate repeated low-voltage warnings. Engine operation alone is not evidence that the battery is always gaining charge.
Is a larger generator always better?
Generator output must match its speed, control system, wiring, cooling and the machine's electrical loads. A larger nameplate figure does not by itself improve every operating condition. Compare usable output under the stated conditions and the complete power balance, rather than selecting a generator independently from the mower's approved system.
Which external battery charger should I use?
Use the charger specification approved for the battery chemistry, voltage and pack arrangement. The correct plug alone does not establish electrical compatibility. Charging voltage, current and control profile matter. Check the battery and mower instructions before connecting an external charger, especially after a battery replacement.
How should I store the mower's battery between seasons?
Follow the battery manufacturer's storage temperature, charge and inspection requirements. Clean and protect the connections, and use only a compatible maintenance charger where specified. Lead-acid and lithium packs may require different storage charge levels. A long storage period should include the checks required for that battery rather than leaving it unattended indefinitely.
Can a lithium battery be charged below freezing?
Use the battery manufacturer's permitted charging temperatures and any installed temperature protection. Some lithium battery designs restrict charging in low temperatures. A mower that can be stored or operated in cold weather may have a different charging limit. Bring the battery into an approved condition before charging it.
Can I install a larger battery myself?
A replacement must match voltage, chemistry, charging system, mounting, protection, cabling and the machine's permitted configuration. More amp-hours alone do not establish compatibility. A heavier or differently sized pack can also affect installation and machine balance. Confirm an approved replacement before changing the original arrangement.
What makes a controller suitable for industrial mowing?
Useful features include controls that match the machine, reliable pairing, clear status information and a documented response to faults or signal loss. The transmitter, receiver and mower controls work as a complete system. Compare the included functions and operating instructions, especially the stopping behaviour, rather than judging a controller only by its appearance or label.
How far away can I operate the mower?
Use the remote system's stated range and the machine's operating rules together. Radio conditions, obstacles and interference can affect reception, while the operator still needs a clear view of the machine and work area. A maximum radio figure is not a recommendation to work at that distance in every location.
Does a 200-metre remote range define a safe operating distance?
Radio range describes communication under stated conditions. A safe operating position also depends on visibility, thrown-object separation, terrain and the machine manual. Keep the machine and surrounding work zone observable. Do not use the radio's maximum range as a substitute for the required exclusion zone or site assessment.
Can several remote mowers work on the same site?
The answer depends on pairing, radio management and the systems in use. Establish the correct transmitter for each machine and follow the controller's instructions. Maintain separate, observable work areas and check operation before starting blades. Multiple machines also require coordination so operators and bystanders do not enter another machine's work zone.
What happens if the remote-controller battery runs low?
Follow the controller's low-battery indication and replace or recharge it as instructed before continuing work. The machine's response to lost communication depends on the installed control system. Know that response before operating, and stop in a suitable position rather than testing the battery's remaining life on a difficult slope.
What happens if the mower loses the radio signal?
Use the documented loss-of-signal behaviour for the supplied transmitter, receiver and mower controls. Travel, engine and cutting functions can have different stopping responses. Check the required function before work and investigate any unexpected behaviour. The return of a signal should not be treated as permission to resume until control is confirmed.
Does an emergency stop halt the blades instantly?
An emergency-stop command acts through the installed control and stopping arrangement. Rotating parts can retain energy and take time to stop. Keep clear until all movement has ceased and follow the isolation procedure before approaching the deck. The exact functions affected must be described by the machine's operating instructions.
Will releasing the emergency stop restart the mower?
Reset and restart behaviour depends on the machine's control design. Follow the model's documented sequence and keep the controls in the required safe state. A machine that moves unexpectedly during reset should be removed from service for diagnosis. Do not rely on an assumed restart behaviour because another mower operates that way.
Can a camera replace direct observation of the mower?
A camera can provide additional information, but its view, delay and reliability differ from direct observation. Use it only within the machine's permitted operating method. Keep the required view of the work area and control bystander access. A camera does not by itself create an approved beyond-visual-range mowing system.
Can I use a phone or automatic route planning?
These functions require a compatible system designed for the machine. GreenShine's remote-controlled models should be used according to their supplied controller and operating instructions. Do not assume that a phone connection, GPS display or remote control includes autonomous navigation. Confirm any additional function as part of a complete machine configuration.
